The Dubai Police Chief says that, “Mossad should be ashamed of its actions.” for assassinating Hamas leader Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in a Dubai Hotel in January 2010. “They sent 26, 27 persons to assassinate one man who was involved in the capturing and killing of two Israeli solders.” Hamas has previously bragged that al-Mabhouh was behind the 1989 deaths of the two soldiers.

This type of logic escapes me. This is the way I see it. Hamas, a violent, terrorist organization, kidnaps and kills two Israeli soldiers. Mossad, the Intelligence Agency of Israel, sends a bunch of its people on a mission to find and kill this guy. It seems pretty reasonable to me. I believe the message they are sending is don’t kidnap and kill any more of our soldiers or else we will use every available resource to hunt you down and kill you. It’s not quite clear what the Dubai Police Chief felt the appropriate response should have been by Israel.

Senator Brown:

A very disappointing start to your political career. Siding with Susan Collins, Olympia Snowe, and the Democrats on your very first vote did not live up to your promise of fiscal responsibilty. I’d like a refund of my campaign contribution. You may think you serve in “The People’s Seat”, but you clearly don’t understand you are spending “The People’s Money”. You were so eager to make friends and fit in that you abandoned your promises immediately. You’re no different than any other politician. You can say goodbye to any future Presidential aspirations. The People want a leader who walks the walk, not just a charming, centerfold who gives a nice speech.

P.S. You are getting battered on your Facebook fan page. I hope you’re paying attention to “The People” whose seat you hold.

My son and I were in a bad car accident last week. Today was his first day back at school. My son had a doctor’s excuse for being out of school and a note saying he should take “Motrin” for pain. The administrator’s first objection was that the bottle of ibuprofen I gave her was already opened. According to school policy, which she made clear I signed at the beginning of the school year, all medications must be unopened. Apparently the school nurse is allowed to open medication, but I’m not. That is a bit insulting since it insinuates that I may have tampered with the contents and cannot be trusted. That was Stupid Rule #1.

Next, the doctor’s note said he should take “Motrin” for pain. Her second objection was that I gave her a bottle of ibuprofen and not Motrin. I said quite perplexed, “Motrin is ibuprofen”. That’s like saying a Ford is not a car, it’s a Ford. She again started spouting the school policy which she again reminded me I signed. I said, “You know this is ridiculous, right?” She ran and got a copy of the policy to show me. I told her I understand what the policy said but that I wanted her to agree that this was ridiculous. I wanted her to show me that she is able to think for herself and not be some sort of mindless drone. I believe most Nazis said they were just following orders without questioning them also. That was Stupid Rule #2.

Apparently she was unable to do this because her next objection was that the bottle of ibuprofen says for ages 12 and up and my son is only 11. Never mind that the doctor’s note says to give him the “Motrin”. At this point I took the excuse and the bottle from her and told her that the excuse allows him to stay home another day and I would be taking him home so he’s not walking around in pain all day. This seemed to upset her even more I think because she realized I still had some control over the situation. Stupid Rule #3.

The final compromise was that they would allow him to leave class early and get his neck iced during lunch period. I would give him the ibuprofen at home after school even though it would be about 2 hours late.

This is the 3rd time we’ve been assaulted by the Nazi school system that wants to decide how I should raise my child. The first time was when I brought my son a cheeseburger Happy Meal for lunch in the 3rd grade. This was not allowed because it wouldn’t be fair to the other children even though they were serving cheeseburgers in the cafeteria that day. The second time was when my daughter asked to drink water at lunch instead of milk. She doesn’t like milk and won’t drink it, but school policy says all students must drink milk unless they have a doctor’s note showing an allergy. How can they deny a kindergarten student or any student water?

Unfortunately the school system and government in general believes they are better parents than we are. It’s very sad the direction our country is moving.

Thursday night, Feb. 4, at about 9 PM in the rain, we were driving home from wrestling practice on Cahaba Valley Rd. (Hwy 119) near the Shelby Library. An 86 year old man and his wife were driving from the opposite direction when apparently he decided he liked my lane better than his. He quickly turned into my lane and it appeared to me that he was deliberately aiming for my car. There was nowhere to go and if even there was, there was no time to react. Blam! Head on collision. He never even tried to stop. Somehow we ended up in a deep ditch off the side of the road.

Andres and I were in severe pain. My neck and back were all twisted up and my chest hurt when breathing. Andres hurt his neck, shoulder, and hit his head on the back of my seat. As you can see from the pictures, the seat belt cut deep into his throat. They took us by ambulance in cervical collars and on backboards. When we were released, we could barely walk.

The old man’s wife died, and from what I understand, the old man is in stable condition with a broken leg and broken hip. Sadly he’s going to have to live with the fact that he killed his wife, but he should feel fortunate that he did not kill us too. This might sound harsh, but why in the world was an 86 year old man driving in the rain and in the dark?

I have not blogged about much of anything in a while. Like many bloggers, I have fallen into the Facebook trap. It’s so easy to share a link and make a quick comment on there that I no longer take the time to duplicate or expand upon it in the blog. Most of my regular blog visitors have also became Facebook Friends Of course commenting on politics on Facebook has gotten my posts hidden by quite a few of my other “friends”. I could take the approach of trying to not alienate my diverse collection of friends there by not posting anything except benign posts such as what song I’m listening to, what I had for breakfast, how cold it is outside, 25 things about me, etc. However, I figure if you are truly a close friend of mine, you are not surprised at all by my political postings so why should I care if the rest have me “hidden”. I don’t have time for people who are, as I say, “pseudo-offended” by everything and everyone they disagree with. They have fallen into a cultural trap of political correctness that is used to control the thoughts and speech for social and political change. We have become a nation of wimps. We have been trained to have our feelings hurt and feign outrage every time someone looks at us the wrong way. Criticism is not countered by logical debate anymore, rather it is silenced by over the top anger and name calling.

That being said, I apologize for not blogging much about politics lately. I was energized by the Tea Party movement last year, but since then I have seen Health Care get passed in both Houses, I have seen unemployment keep climbing, I have seen reckless and irresponsible borrowing and spending, I have seen our country run by a bunch of liberal buffoons who seem bent on moving our country wildly to the left no matter what the cost to our liberty and economy. It would almost appear as there is a deliberate attempt to make people more dependent upon government by destroying the economy. Somehow people have come to believe that all problems can only be solved by more government control.

Frankly I am discouraged. If I blogged about everything in the news that bothered me, I’d be blogging all day, every day. Despite the Tea Party movement and polls showing that most of the country disapproves with the direction we are headed, there seems to be no way to stop any of it. So lately I have thrown up my hands in despair and stopped blogging. I can only hope that the 2010 elections have a profound change. I have noticed than many of my Conservative blogger friends have also given up on political blogging or blogging altogether.

I guess I have forgotten the purpose of my blog in the first place. I don’t write it for anyone else, I write it for me. I get to express myself and also share photos and videos with my family. I have always enjoyed my interaction with the few visitors I get. It would be nice to have a massively popular blog that I could make money with, but since I haven’t figured out how to do that, I’ll be satisfied with my small corner of the Internet.
