A Time For Choosing

Often called, “The Speech”, the 1964 address Ronald Reagan gave to the Republican National Convention sounds like he is talking about the challenges we face today.  Listen to it and almost every word will ring true. It’s long, but you won’t be able to stop listening once you start.
You think Obama is a great [...]

McCain, Ingraham, Coulter pillow fight

Pull up a chair and get the popcorn.
Laura Ingraham basically called Meghan McCain fat and then a “useful idiot” that is being manipulated by the MSM.   Seems a bit out of bounds except that Meghan McCain actually started the fight by picking on Ann Coulter first.  Ann Coulter ignored Meghan McCain as you would expect, [...]

Birmingham/Shelby County/Alabama Tax Day Tea Party

Tax Day is a natural fit for a Tea Party protesting the massive debt and tax increases our government is irresponsibly forcing upon us during these fragile economic times. Many people have contacted me saying they want to organize something but want to include everyone with similar aspirations and not duplicate any efforts [...]

Shelby County AL Tea Party

I just attended the Shelby County, AL Tea Party inspired by Rick Santelli of CNBC. I found out about it from Michelle Malkin’s site about 15 minutes before it started and it was being held right in my neighborhood!  I figured our forefathers would not be deterred by the rain so neither would [...]

Read my lips

In the State of the Union this week, President Obama said that people making over $250,000 would not see their taxes increases by one dime.
Obama’s new budget proposal is going to reduce the home mortgage interest deduction on people who make over $208,850.
From US News:

Households paying income taxes at the 33% [...]

The scariest article I’ve ever read

The Wall Street Journal – Obama’s 2% Illusion
Consider the IRS data for 2006, the most recent year that such tax data are available and a good year for the economy and “the wealthiest 2%.” Roughly 3.8 million filers had adjusted gross incomes above $200,000 in 2006. (That’s about 7% of all returns; the data aren’t [...]

Congress out of touch again

Did anyone at all notice that Congress once again decided not to block their annual cost of living pay raise? I have not seen this on a single news channel.  Members of Congress will all receive an automatic $4700 “cost of living” pay raise.  How many of you are getting a “cost of living” pay [...]

How do we power the future?

Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood wants to tax you by the mileage you drive instead of the gas you consume. Let’s put aside the privacy problems with having the government give you some device to track how far you drive. And let’s put aside the obvious fact that they will not replace the gas [...]

Sound familiar?

I was watching NatGeo on tv Tuesday night and there was a show about the Great Wall of China.   Turns out, the Ming Dynasty completely collapsed under crushing debt after going broke building the wall.  It was a great, shovel-ready jobs program that created tons of jobs but failed to stimulate their economy.

Obama scores points with conservatives

Barack Obama, still showing the uncanny political skills that got him elected, has come out opposed to the “Fairness Doctrine”. He scores big points with me for protecting free speech and having some semblance of common sense. As I have said all along, Obama will get fair treatment and praise from [...]
