There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.
Well, Mr. Big Brother Obama, here’s some “casual conversation” you can keep track of.
I don’t belong to any political organizations. No one pays or directs me to say the things I do. In fact, it is statements like the one above on your website that inspire me to speak out. I am the average ordinary citizen that feels this is my opportunity to express my concerns about our country’s future. Although I consider myself mostly conservative, I have recently disavowed the Republican party since I do not feel they represent my interests either. I love this country, freedom, and the Constitution. I feel it is worth protecting. I believe Government is inept and wasteful in most regards and should play as small a role as possible. Yes, I went to the Tax Day Tea Party simply because I wanted you and Congress to hear loud and clear that I do not approve of the way you are handling the economy and eroding our freedoms. Dissent is not just for radical, misguided liberals who chain themselves to trees or destroy Starbucks any more. You are hearing this from all groups from middle class to white collar professionals to the elderly. And unlike radical liberals, we are peacefully exercising our First Amendment Right to Freedom of Speech. Even you cannot take that from us. We will not be marched toward socialism like sheep. You may want to write off all these demonstrations as manufactured anger, but there are millions just like me who are angry and worried. Unemployment, government bailing-out/owning private industries, inflation, interest rates, housing costs, taxes, suffocating debt, energy costs, dependence on foreign oil, our enemies getting nuclear weapons, education, and the war on terror. There’s a lot to be upset about and I don’t see anything moving in the right direction.
And guess what? I don’t like your health care plan. Not at all. I frankly don’t believe anything you are saying. I believe you are knowingly lying about the astronomical costs because once your entitlement is in place, people will have no option except funding it. I believe that you know full well that even if you took 100% of the income of the top 1% of the country that you still cannot pay off your budget deficit. You clearly have no desire to reach a bi-partisan agreement as you have said you will sign such a bill even if no Republican votes for it. Congress will not consider any Republican amendments or debate. I believe you are ramming through the most expensive government program in history in record time because you know if we took the time to understand it, we wouldn’t approve. Also, I believe you know that your only shot at getting it in is now as your approval ratings are taking a nose dive. You took 6 months to decide on what dog to get your kids but you are willing to spend Trillions of dollars in a blink of an eye.
I will not be intimidated or silenced by you. I believe your health care plan is dangerous for America in terms of cost and quality of care. If that makes me “fishy” because I disagree with you, the so be it. I am going to report myself to flag@whitehouse.gov.
