Interrogation now obsolete

There is no point to capturing terrorists any more. Just kill them. President Obama is considering prosecuting intelligence officers for performing interrogation techniques authorized by the President, Justice Dept and members on the Congressional Intelligence (just typing those words consecutively is hysterical) Committee. Imagine being a CIA officer and not knowing if the interrogation technique you are about to use might be deemed illegal by a future President or Attorney General. Not only have we notified our enemies about our interrogation tactics and reduced our effectiveness in obtaining intelligence, we now have our intelligence officers more scared of their own government than the terrorists they are trying to stop. I’m pretty sure they can still use the tactic of “pretty please” without fear of retribution but you never know, perhaps that’s too coercive.

How long do you think it will take until the actual killing of terrorists is considered excessive and harmful to our “image” and relationships abroad?

Actually, he specifically said he would not do that.  The President said that CIA officers who were acting on the Justice Deparment’s legal advice would not be prosecuted.

  2. Every day he changes his mind.  Before today he said he would let the AG decide follow the evidence and decide who should be prosecuted.   I don’t know how any President can expect to receive decent counsel any more if they will be in fear of future prosecution.  This is clearly a political witch hunt that has no place in this country.
