Congress out of touch again

Did anyone at all notice that Congress once again decided not to block their annual cost of living pay raise? I have not seen this on a single news channel.  Members of Congress will all receive an automatic $4700 “cost of living” pay raise.  How many of you are getting a “cost of living” pay raise?   Apparently none of the special people in our country such as corporate executives and Congress are paid according to their performance, but instead are entitled to it as part of the elite, ruling class.  They always ask everyone to sacrifice except for themselves.  Executives get millions of dollars in bonuses while laying off millions of workers and Congress gets pay raises while everyone else gets $13/week in tax relief and a trillion dollars of debt.   When will we hold these people accountable?

Did you know,
The average lawmaker makes $169.300 a year. Nancy Pelosi, speaker of the House, makes $217,400 year. Senate minority and majority leaders make $188,100 per year.

It is curious that the Obama threshold of $200,000 for raising taxes applies to almost nobody in Congress.

They all make me sick.

  1. Scott, I understand and agree with what you say, but in full disclosure, by an act or acts of Congress my wife and I both received a COL raise in our Social Security benefits for 2009 of 5.8%. I also received a 5.8% COL increase in my VA disability benefits.

Thanks for paying your federal taxes to help support us even though Social Security may be a thing of the past by the time you’re old enough to get something back from the program.

  2. I believe you are entitled to it and it will certainly be necessary when inflation starts climbing, but Congress on the other hand is responsible for the problems we have now and should be embarrassed and ashamed by such a pay raise.
