How embarrassing.
Obama’s Aunt Zeituni has been living illegally in a poor neighborhood in Boston. Not only that, she is living in tax-payer funded Boston public housing. She was denied asylum four years ago and defied a deportation order. I am sensitive to the plight of immigrants and wanting to make a better life for themselves. I also believe the “system” is unfortunately not designed to give most people from third world countries a realistic possibility of achieving that dream legally. I want to help those who are willing to work hard and contribute to our success. I also however believe we are a nation based on the rule of law whether you agree with it or not. If the laws are not working, they should be changed and clearly they are not working. However, this is still a major embarassment for Barack Obama. He basically caused this problem himself by mentioning her in his memoir.
The most ironic part of this story is that John McCain authored the Amnesty Bill which would have provided Aunt Zeituni a path to citizenship.
It’s getting crowded under that bus with Obama’s father, grandmother, brother, and aunt.
