Obama really can’t say anything about Palin

At first I thought it was big of Obama to take the high road by saying,

“People’s families are off limits,” he said. “People’s children are especially off limits. This shouldn’t be part of our politics. It has no relevance to Gov. Palin’s performance as a governor or her potential performance as a vice president. ”

Then I was reminded by Michelle Malkin that Obama was born to an 18 year mother. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with that. My mother was 19 when she had me. But it sure does explain why he is not exploiting this. Also Malkin in a later post goes on to quote Obama saying,

“Look, I got two daughters — 9 years old and 6 years old,” he said. “I am going to teach them first about values and morals, but if they make a mistake, I don’t want them punished with a baby.

Well isn’t that telling. PUNISHED. Doesn’t that just speak volumes?

  1. I stole this from a commenter at Hot Air, it’s perfect (although the commenter attributed the “just a bonus” comment to Levi, Bristol’s fiance.  From the article it’s pretty clear his mom said it):
Obama: …but if they make a mistake, I don’t want them punished with a baby.
    Levi Johnston’s mom:
The boy’s mother, Sherry Johnston, said there had been no pressure put on her son to marry 17-year-old Bristol Palin and the two teens had made plans to wed before it was known she was pregnant.
“This is just a bonus,” Johnston said.
