3G iPhone: Still not good enough for me

The new 3G iPhone is coming July 11 which means it’s much faster and also has GPS built in. What it’s lacking though is still a deal breaker.

Bluetooth: Only has headset profile. No A2DP stereo headphone profile which is just plain weird. Even weirder is that they haven’t put it in the iPod either. You would think the company that owns iTunes would want you to enjoy your music as much as possible. Also no DUN or PAN profile to tether use your iPhone as a modem. No OBEX profile to share files.

Tethering: No tethering at all to use phone as a modem even with USB. This feature I use rarely with my phone, but when I need it, it’s a lifesaver. I don’t want to pay $60/month to buy LaptopConnect card I’ll hardly use.

Video recording: No video recording available, only photos.

Copy and paste: What??

Voice Command: Most useful with Bluetooth headsets. I use it all the time so I don’t need to dial while driving.

MMS: No photos inside text messaging. My Sprint Touch doesn’t have this either. Both phones can still email photos.

Perhaps many of this issues will be solved by a 3rd party software company now that Apple has opened up the operating system.

For now I’m sticking with my Sprint Touch with Windows Mobile.
