I am a big fan of Walmart usually. I shop there all the time. This article however leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
Debbie Shank was in a car accident and has brain damage. She can’t remember that her son was killed in Iraq and cries as though she’s hearing it for the first time each time she asks about him. Debbie’s family won a $1 million lawsuit against the trucking company that caused the accident and that money was put aside for Debbie’s long term care. The idiots at Walmart sued Debbie to recoup $470,000.00 of medical expenses it paid out. I realize they have a legal right to do such a thing, but Walmart is going to lose a lot more money and respect by looking like cold hearted bastards. They are going to leave this poor woman with nothing. Oh by the way Walmart reported net sales of $90 Billion in the 3rd quarter of 2007. Do they really need the money that badly?
Come on Walmart do the right thing. Don’t give the enemies of capitalism and corporate America any more ammunition.
