Sorry for the geekiness of this post. I was hunting for this information yesterday and could not find it anywhere so I thought I’d post it in case anyone else is having the same problem.
I am running Leopard on a MacBook Pro with a Bootcamp Windows partition. I run Bootcamp through VMWare Fusion. There is a definite incompatibility between Leopard’s Time Machine backup and VMWare Fusion. Whenever Time Machine starts a scheduled backup, my VM crashes with a Kernel panic. The way to get around this is to set the options in Time Machine to exclude all the VMWare Fusion folders on you machine, Library/Application Support/VMWare Fusion and Users/user name/Library/Application Support/VMWare Fusion, from the backup. This seems to have solved my problem. Hope it works for you.
