This is my child @

I thought Apple, Gwyneth Paltrow’s daughter, was a strange name for a kid.  A couple in China tried to name their kid, “@”.  When pronounced in Mandarin, the “at” symbol sounds like “ai ta” which resembles the words for “love him”.  The Chinese government refused their request since there is a ban on names [...]

You get what you pay for

The Chinese executive who used lead tainted paint which was supplied by his best friend and used in Mattel toys killed himself.
From Fox News:
Lee Der made 967,000 toys recalled earlier this month by Mattel Inc. (MAT) because they were made with paint found to have excessive amounts of lead. The plastic preschool toys, sold under [...]

Goodwill?

According to the BBC,
Taleban militants in Afghanistan say they have freed two women from among the 21 South Korean hostages they have been holding for more than three weeks.
A Taleban spokesman, Yousuf Ahmad, told the BBC the women were sick and had been released as a “sign of goodwill”.
Goodwill. I feel like [...]

Maybe Carl Everett was right

Dan Shaughnessy is really annoying. For those of you outside of Boston, he is the Boston Globe sports writer who coined the phrase, “The Curse of the Bambino”. Geico Gecko

Did you ever wonder who the voice of the Geico Gecko is? I have.

It’s this guy, Jake Wood. There have been several different people voicing the gecko but he is the current voice and the best so far.

Arkansas family has 17th child, wants more

From Fox News, the Duggar family has had their 17th child and still want more. As usual, these massive families thank God for their gift. It’s almost as if they have no idea that they actually actively participated in this activity.
We are just so grateful to God for another gift from him,” said Jim Bob [...]

Vick double standard?

We are supposed to be innocent until proven guilty, but in today’s society most people are convicted or cleared by the media long before a trial occurs.  Tawana Brawley, O.J. Simpson, Scott Peterson, Duke Lacrosse players, Kobe Bryant, John Mark Karr are just a few examples.  Michael Vick was only  indicted but still should have [...]

What to say?

There were so many things I wanted to talk about this week but instead I spent all my time trying to figure out why my trackbacks weren’t working and ultimately moving to a new host. Time to catch up.
The Celtics finally became interesting again now with Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, and Kevin Garnett. [...]

I’ve switched hosts

I left ReadyHosting who I had been with for years and I’m now at Blue Host. I left ReadyHosting because every time I asked them for help, they would duck and dodge the issue. The latest problem I had was with Word Press trying to send outgoing http requests such as sending trackbacks [...]
