Maybe Carl Everett was right

Dan Shaughnessy is really annoying. For those of you outside of Boston, he is the Boston Globe sports writer who coined the phrase, “The Curse of the Bambino”. He has been nicknamed CHB, “Curly Haired Boyfriend”, taken from a comment made by former Sox player Carl Everett who was referring to fellow sports writer “Gordon Edes and his curly haired boyfriend”.

He has created a childlike feud with Red Sox legend Curt Schilling, who broke his Curse of the Bambino with his bloody sock, by constantly insulting and criticizing him in articles. Shaughnessy probably doesn’t realize how foolish he looks because he is so full of himself.

Today in an Globe article, “The road is paved with hot issues”, Shaughnessy, being the negative obnoxious jerk that he is decides he is going to take a shot at an NBA legend, Reggie Miller, who the Celtics are trying to talk out of retirement to make a run at the title.

Then we find out the Celtics are going after Reggie Miller as part of their back-to-the-future archaeological dig. Really now. Reggie Miller? The guy is almost 42. He’s a television analyst. Why not just see if Cooz wants to lace ‘em up one more time?

The “Cooz” is Bob Cousy, Celtics Hall of Famer and sportcaster, another legend. The problem is that Red Sox broadcaster Jerry Remy, “Remdawg”, had already said this early in the night. From a different article in today’s Globe, “Loose change for Sox”, CHB’s boyfriend Gordon Edes writes,

Terry Francona, his voice reduced by a cold to a painful rasp, asked a group of reporters if it was true the Celtics really wanted to sign Reggie Miller.”They’d better have four balls,” Francona said, marveling at Reggie’s famous demolition of the Knicks at the feet of Spike Lee. Jerry Remy suggested that the Cooz was still available.

Perhaps they spend a little too much time together. Shaughnessy just has to realize that he is never going to be on the same level as the heros he tries to tear down.
