Food for thought – 05/11/2007

For all the criticism the Democrat controlled Congress hurls at the President, it is interesting that they both have the same approval rating.

Car bombings in Iraq are down 41% since the surge began.

The DOW is at a record high and over 95% of Americans are currently employed. And this is despite the claims that illegal immigrants are “stealing” our jobs.

Just as France is moving away from socialism and toward conservatism, the United States is doing the opposite.

Tax Revenue collections hit a record high this April proving once again that lowering taxes increases revenue. Did the representatives in Congress who want to roll back the Bush tax cuts fail Economics 101 or did they just skip it to make room for Women’s Studies and Multi-Culturalism classes?

Just as tax revenues increased, so did spending. Spending always increases. The important thing to look at is the increase in the RATE of spending which is lower than the prior year. Expect spending rates to increase dramatically under the budget of the Democrat controlled Congress.

Look for the next President to create a new Cabinet position for Secretary of Global Warming and the Department of Carbon Credits which will be taxpayer funded.

Tony Blair is resigning as Prime Minister in Great Britain but could be easily elected President in the U.S.

The rioters in France are protesting the election of conservative Sarkozy which is exactly why he was elected.

Beth at My Vast Right Wing Conspiracy has a video of a Glenn Beck special called “The Climate of Fear” which tries to debunk the global warming hype. In it is a clip of Vice President Al Gore citing the U.S. policy of rejecting the Kyoto Treaty since it did not include developing nations such as China and India. It’s Must See TV.

Michael Moore is being investigated by the Treasury Department for his trip to Cuba with ill 9/11 workers supposedly seeking better health care. His new movie, “Sicko”, supposedly exposes the failings of the U.S. health care system. First of all, Michael Moore is far from a picture of health himself. He looks more like he just finished the documentary, “Super Size Me”. Secondly, the United States health care system is the envy of the world! People are coming here from all over to receive care that is available nowhere else. Thirdly, there is no hospital in the U.S. that will deny emergency care to someone who needs it regardless of their ability to pay. New York hospitals alone provide $1.8 billion in uncompensated care annually. It’s not a perfect system, but there is no Utopia, especially not in Cuba. Sadly, the only thing that this investigation will accomplish is selling more movie tickets.
