Ok, I feel bad for the global warming advocates. They are not doing a good job of convincing everyone that global warming exists. The scare tactics just aren’t working. I’m going to help them out.
Instead of saying man, capitalism, greed, or big business are evil and causing greenhouse emissions, how about a new slogan:
TERRORISTS ARE DESTROYING THE PLANET!
The argument would go like this:
- We are too dependent on oil for much of our economy.
- Oil rich countries have too much leverage over our economy.
- Oil is going to become too expensive as it gets harder to find.
- Oil is not renewable and will run out one day.
- Oil money funds terrorists groups in the Middle East.
- Terrorists want to kill us all. They are not misunderstood and cannot be negotiated with.
- If we find alternate sources of energy, we will have a stronger economy, better security, and the Middle East will go bankrupt.
A nice side effect would be a cleaner environment and who knows, maybe an end to global warming.
Which argument is more convincing to you? Stop buying oil to save the environment or stop buying oil to stop funding terrorism?
Now the real question is, can environmentalists join the fight against terrorism to save the planet from melting icebergs.
