How times have changed

Remember when the Dixie Chicks said they were ashamed to be from the same state as President George Bush? They were soundly ostracized by almost everyone. Record sales dropped and concerts were canceled due to poor ticket sales. There were Dixie Chicks CD destruction parties/contests carried out be radio stations across the country. Now it seems they were just ahead of their time. Everyone seems to be making a career out of bashing our President and our country. The Dixie Chicks won 5 Grammy Awards last night. And the icing on the cake is that Jimmy Carter won a Grammy for his anti-semitic book on tape.

The vocal minority has cranked up the rhetoric to a deafening level. When will we say enough is enough? There has to be a backlash against Hollywood coming eventually. As far as I’m concerned, it’s far overdue. Joseph McCarthy used to expose communists in Hollywood and they were blacklisted. Now Hollywood stars expose themselves and they are applauded and honored.

I don’t watch the Grammy’s or any other award show anymore because I really can’t stand movie, television, and music industries honoring themselves with award after award after award. The politics now makes it even more distasteful.

If you wanted to see what a real American show is, you should have watched Extreme Makeover Home Edition last night. They built a new house for a Marine hero who saved lives on 9/11 with no regard for his own safety. Every part of the house was a tribute to his service. The most touching moment was when the Marines showed up at his door in formation to welcome him home. The hosts of the show showed their appreciation to all the troops for the sacrifice in defending our nation. They flew the Stars and Stripes proudly above their home. Now that’s what America should be about.
