Bush Derangement Syndrome Explained

Janet Albrechtsen of the Australian writes an excellent article on Anti-Americananism. I found this over at Sister Toldjah’s. It’s nice to see a rational person come to the defense of the protector of freedom.

As she says in the article,

And so Norwegian Nobel laureate Knut Hamsun hated the US for being too big and too fast. Anti-Americanism has morphed into a desire to bring America to heel, something that coincides with the goal of Islamists. But if the big, fast rich guy retreats, it’s worth asking who will step up to the plate when the West needs things fixed. The dawdling burghers of Europe may recall that small and slow did not help the Kuwaitis, Bosnian Muslims, Kosovars, Afghanis or the tsunami victims.

Its akin to hating the class valedictorian, or the cheerleader, or the all-star quarterback. Relentlessly mocking them for the occasional misstep such as a bad grade, bad hair day, or incomplete pass. For some reason we have an innate urge to elevate ourselves by despising and tearing down success and greatness until they reach our level of mediocrity. If the goal to reduce our power and influence on the world is ever achieved, who will step up to defend freedom? People who hate America must also hate history since we have been the most benevolent nation in the history of the world.
