A Massachusetts jury (of course it was in Massachusetts) awarded John Cerqueira $400,000.00 for being “racially profiled” in 2003. He was removed from an American Airlines flight with two Israeli passengers for being mistaken for a man of Middle Eastern descent. Cerqueira is of Portuguese descent. The men were questioned and released.
Since I am a white male, I belong to the only group in our nation that is not allowed to have special protections or considerations. Our culture says it is impossible for me to be discriminated against. It is just not fair. I want to be racially profiled for $400,000.00.
I’m still not clear on how Mr. Cerqueira was racially profiled since the airline was not profiling his particular ethnic background. I just can’t be confused for a terrorist or any minority. I should be compensated for my inability to sue.
Let’s penalize any company that is trying to keep us safe from terrorists. Maybe if we sue them enough, they’ll go out of business and then we can go after the train and bus companies next. We’ll all be rich!
