Sox take big risk

The Red Sox won a bidding war to obtain the rights to negotiate with Daisuke Matsuzaka of the Japanese Seibu Lions. It will cost the Red Sox $51.1 million just to talk to him. If they are not able to reach an agreement the Red Sox will get their money back. The risk, however, is if they do sign him and that may take another $50 million. All this for a guy who has never thrown a pitch in the Major Leagues. Of course that doesn’t mean much after our showing in the World Baseball Classic this year. Japan won that tournament by the way.

You have to give Theo credit for taking the plunge. Here we go again. Bring on the Yankees!
