I have put my first item for auction on eBay today. I am selling my loyalty to either Auburn or Alabama for 2007.

I moved down to Alabama three years ago. I was told by everyone I met that I would have to pick a football team to root for, Alabama or Auburn. I had no college loyalties since my own college had no football team and I’m a big New England Patriot fan. Since mostly everyone in the office were Alabama fans, it seemed to be a good choice. It also allowed me to wear a T-Shirt that proudly showed off the name of my new home state.
The first year I was here, Auburn was undefeated. Every year, Auburn has beaten Alabama in the Iron Bowl. This year Alabama was 6-6. On November 4, Alabama lost to Mississippi State who hadn’t won a game all year. The moment Shula didn’t go for it on 4th and goal (1 yard), his players basically gave up on him. He lost faith in his players, they lost faith in him, and he lost me as a fan. I declared myself an Auburn fan and wouldn’t you know it, Auburn lost the next Saturday to Georgia dashing any hope for a national title.
Some might say I am the cause of the bad luck for both teams. Auburn has shown they have been the better team since I moved down here, but Alabama is getting a new head coach and it might be time to give them a second chance. The winner of this auction will decide which team I will root for next season, 2007. That will include wearing my new team’s shirt every Friday to work. You can vote for me to root against your favorite team if you think it will help you or you can welcome me aboard.
