Let me see if I’ve got this right… Pope Benedict XVI gives a speech to German professors condemning religious violence. He quoted a 14th-century Byzantine emperor Manuel II Paleologus,
“Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached.”
The Muslim community responds with threats and violence. Who could have predicted that response?? Oh, I know the answer to this one, Alex. “Who is Byzantine Emperor Manuel II Paleologus?” You are correct! And he predicted it 700 years ago.
Al Qaeda’s response posted on the internet by the Mujahideen Shura Council,
“We tell the worshipper of the cross (the Pope) that you and the West will be defeated, as is the case in Iraq, Afghanistan, Chechnya.”“We shall break the cross and spill the wine. … God will (help) Muslims to conquer Rome. … God enable us to slit their throats, and make their money and descendants the bounty of the mujahideen.”
“…you and the West are doomed as you can see from the defeat in Iraq, Afghanistan, Chechnya and elsewhere. … We will break up the cross, spill the liquor and impose head tax, then the only thing acceptable is a conversion (to Islam) or (killed by) the sword.”
Islam forbids drinking alcohol and requires non-Muslims to pay a head tax to safeguard their lives if conquered by Muslims. They are exempt if they convert to Islam.
A nun was killed in Somalia. Churches were burned in the West Bank. And for this the Pope is supposed to apologize?
As George Bush said the other day to the country,
“This struggle has been called a clash of civilizations. In truth, it is a struggle for civilization”.
John McCain wants us to “take the moral high ground” and limit our interrogation techniques even further. Senator, I’m pretty sure we already have the “moral high ground” by a long shot. I hope the moral high ground doesn’t result in our own destruction.
We are being reduced to sniveling cowards afraid to defend our friends, afraid to defend our nation, and afraid to offend and anger anybody even when it is justified. The world is being held hostage by a bunch of barbarians. Again I say, we are just a bunch of giant pansies.
