Yes, I’ve been keeping it a secret. I am a technology geek. I especially like computer related technology. My latest toys are the Motorola Q and the Macbook Pro.
So Verizon finally turned on EVDO in Birmingham on Tuesday. I’ve been coveting the Motorola Q for a long time but when I read that Motorola released a firmware update yesterday for the Q which turned on some missing Bluetooth profiles, that clinched it. I bought one last night. I LOVE IT! I had a Samsung i730 PDA phone until now which was fully loaded and hacked, but this phone blows it away. It has Windows Mobile 5, A2DP bluetooth wireless stereo headphone profile, Word, Excel, Outlook, camera, Windows Media Player, and can act as a wireless broadband modem for my laptop.
I also have ORB on my pc at home which allows me to stream my television, movies, photos, and music to any computer in the world. This includes streaming to my new Macbook Pro and my new phone. If you have a Media Center PC with a tv tuner, you HAVE to have Orb software. It is completely free. You can get it at http://www.orb.com . It’s the best kept secret in computer technology. It can stream any media format at all different speeds and encodes it to play in almost any media player on the market.
I recently got the Macbook Pro which allows me to run Mac OSX and Windows XP Pro on the same system. It’s the best of both worlds. I use Parallels to run XP as a virtual machine inside the Mac OSX. I can use them both at the same time and they can share files too.
I’m glad I got that off my chest.
