Hypocrite Annan

According to Fox News:

NABATIYEH, Lebanon — An Israeli bomb destroyed a U.N. observer post on the border in southern Lebanon, killing two peacekeepers and leaving two others feared dead in what appeared to be a deliberate strike, U.N. chief Kofi Annan said.

There is no surprise that Kofi Annan is trying to undermine Israel. For someone who supposedly advocates peace at all costs, he is doing his best to inflame the world and Israel’s enemies over an obvious accident. Israel has nothing to gain by killing non-terrorist targets and there can be no logical reason for doing so. However, logic is not the U.N.’s strong point. I’m not sure why Annan believes the world is better off with Hezbollah than Israel but he apparently does.

I’m not sure when the world forgot that people die in wars. If you don’t want to get killed, get out of the way. Sometimes we can launch a missile halfway around the world and cram it up Zarqawi’s ass, but once in a while we miss. Sometimes we accidently kill our own great soldiers such as Pat Tillman. Because we cannot avoid all collateral damage, should we disarm our military? These standards certainly don’t apply to terrorists such as Hezbollah who just shoot missiles wherever they please and hope they kill anybody they can. Where’s the outrage Kofi?? The U.N. is pathetic and irrelevant.

  1. Scott,

it’s been a bad 24 hours for Israel. Killing four UN personnel in a clearly marked camp is one thing. Sending missiles into two clearly marked ambulances in Lebanon is also dumb and does nothing to promote Israel’s position as a victim, but makes it look more like the aggressor (http://www.theage.com.au/news/world/we-have-an-accident/2006/07/25/1153816182440.html)

This follows the US shipping $30 million in aid to Lebanon just 48 hours after rushing a shipment of precision guided munitions to Israel as part of a $1 billion arms contract – there’s hypocracy for you.

All these incidents clearly undermine the willingness of the global community to commit to a UN peace-making force, and undermine the trust for the US as a dealmaker – Condi Rice now just looks plain ridiculous talking peace while sending arms to continue the campaign.

If there’s to be peace – both sides have to demonstrate a willingness to compromise – neitehr side seems willing at the moment.

  2. Thanks for visiting and sharing your opinion. You are right that there can be no peace without compromise. Hezbollah has never shown a capacity or willingness to compromise whereas Israel has made concession after concession with nothing to show for it. The extent of a Hezbollah compromise consists of empty promises to cease attacks. That really means stop killing us so we will have a chance to regroup and find better weapons. There is only one solution, the elimination of Hezbollah and groups like them.
