I like Ann Coulter. I like her conviction. I like her use of hyperbole. I like her disregard for political correctness. I’ve been wanting to write about this all week but the other news has been pretty exciting.
I heard Bill O’Reilly argue when “Godless” came out that Ms. Coulter is not going to convince anyone to change their mind with her acerbic delivery. However, I think he is wrong. Many conservatives have come to her defense making sure that her message isn’t lost in the media sensationalism of a few select remarks. In fact, no one would have had the courage to take on the “Liberal Human Shields” if she hadn’t been so candid and unapologetic. She opened the door for others to speak up and make persuasive arguments. A personal tragedy does not give someone license to bash the President and our country with immunity from criticism.
I agree with Ms. Coulter on many issues but I think she is guilty of one of her own accusations that liberals completely ignore science when it contradicts their beliefs. She says the there is absolutely no evidence of Darwinism and that evolution is a crock. As we know from liberal tantrums, just throwing out an assertion like this with much vigor does not make it true. I will not deny that the entire DNA history has not been mapped for all species that ever existed but you do not need to discover every missing link to show that the theory has validity. Scientists are amazing detectives and do not need to see the pink elephant in the room to prove it has been there.
There is evidence of Natural Selection all around us. I don’t have time to research and provide definitive proof of evolution in this forum, but here is an article just out today showing again how species can quickly modify and adapt to their environment promoting survival of the fittest.

Although Ms. Coulter does not promote an alternate theory on the creation of Man, I suspect her beliefs are derived from scripture. Now she has every right to do so, but I hardly see how this is the scientific proof that she requires for her other arguments such as breast implants, stem-cell research, the fact of IQ, heterosexual AIDS etc.
As I have written previously, I think religion and evolution can very easily live in harmony. Now if you are going to insist that the Bible which was written in the last 2000 years gives an accurate historic and scientific portrayal of what has occurred over millions of years, then there is no scientific proof that will ever convince you of anything. I’d like to see her scientific proof for an alternative theory to evolution other than her faith alone.
Update: Here is another missing link Ms. Coulter will likely dismiss out of hand.
