Howard Dean fails again. Nagin praises Bush.

According to Drudge, the DNC actively worked against the Ray Nagin campaign for Mayor in New Orleans. I’m thrilled to see how ineffective Howard Dean still is, but on the other hand, it does not bode well for New Orleans that he won anyways. Suprisingly, Nagin had praise for President Bush, of all people.

In his victory speech late Saturday night, Nagin praised President Bush.

“You and I have probably been the most vilified politicians in the country. But I want to thank you for moving that promise that you made in Jackson Square forward,” Nagin said.

Perhaps he has learned something after all.

Update:
Matt Drudge has reported that the DNC has adamantly denied campaining against Ray Nagin and that he takes them at his word.

DNC Communications director Karen Finney explained: “The DNC does not as a policy get involved in Democratic primaries… The only thing that the DNC did was a campaign helping ensure that displaced voters had an opportunity to vote.”

I would like to believe that the displaced voters they encouraged were anti-Nagin, but who knows? New Orleans residents have shown they are an irrational and unpredictable lot. Have you rebuilt those levees yet or are you waiting for another disaster so you can blame someone else again?
