BREITBART.COM - Bush: Massive Deportation Not Realistic

“President Bush, rebutting lawmakers advocating a law-and-order approach to immigration, said Monday that those who are calling for massive deportation of the estimated 11 million foreigners living illegally in the United States are not being realistic.

“Massive deportation of the people here is not going to work,” Bush said as a Congress divided over immigration returned from a two-week recess. “It’s just not going to work.”

“I know this is an emotional debate,” Bush told the Orange County Business Council. “But one thing we can’t lose sight of is that we are talking about human beings, decent human beings.”

Exactly what I have been saying. We need a common sense approach, but what is Bush’s plan to protect the border? We also need to find a way to let these people into the country legally, but you really shouldn’t address the permanent status of illegals already here until you are able to control who is coming in. I just don’t see an alternative to a wall or fence.

Arnold Schwarzenegger said in an interview with George Stephanopoulos,

“Schwarzenegger strongly rejected the idea of building a “wall” along 700 miles of the U.S.-Mexican border, an idea advocated by a number of prominent House Republicans.

I think that it will be ludicrous to limit yourself to just building a wall,” he said. “We’re going back to the stone ages here. I mean, we are landing men on the moon and in outer space using all these great things. I think that other technology really can secure the borders.”

OK Arnold, sounds intriguing, but what technology specifically? I hope he’s not talking about cameras.

As I’ve said before, Bush’s temporary guest worker program is perfect for building a wall or fence. And as a reward for building the wall, you get to stay.
