Outlaw fashion knockoffs?

From AOL News - O.K., Knockoffs, This Is War

For readers of Marie Claire, one of its most popular monthly features is Splurge vs. Steal, a column that shows an expensive runway look next to a knockoff costing a fraction of the price. But within the fashion trade the magazine column is roundly disliked, at least by designers whose work is included under the Splurge heading.

This is ridiculous. Designer originals and knockoffs do not cater to the same clientele. By eliminating the knockoffs, the designers will do nothing to increase their sales. People who can afford designer clothes would not settle for knock-offs anyways. It’s probably a bunch of self-important, out of touch elitists who are proposing this. How could a court possibly decide what is a knock-off and what isn’t? A dress with flowers is a dress with flowers. A grey suit is a grey suit. I hope someone doesn’t sue Hanes because Calvin Klein also has white briefs with an elastic waist band. What a waste of time. Don’t we have anything more important to worry about?
