You know what is more disturbing than Iran vowing to proliferate nuclear technology? The fact that most Americans will be outraged for about 24 hours and then for some reason the shock will fade quickly. Just like every other outrageous thing Iran has said such as the holocaust never happened, Israel will be destroyed, etc., nothing seems to motivate us enough to substantive action.
America has ADHD. We lose interest in everything too quickly. Iraq is a good example. If things can’t be wrapped up during television sweeps periods, then it must be a disaster. What’s even more disturbing than that is that the rest of the world doesn’t even understand or care about the Iranian threat!
China and Russia, which are permanent, veto-wielding members of the council, oppose sanctions and both called Tuesday for more negotiations.“We see no alternative to the negotiations process,” Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov was quoted as saying by the Interfax news agency while in Beijing for a regional anti-terrorism meeting.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang urged all parties “to show flexibility,” saying the international community should not abandon efforts for a peaceful settlement.
Does China and Russia seriously think Iran is sane enough to negotiate? It is apparent they want Iran to have nuclear weapons. Russia had already offered to enrich their nuclear fuel for them. They were flatly rejected and still don’t care. If you are not with us, then you are against us. Isn’t that what Bush said? I wonder who he was talking to? Again this proves the point that we need more conservative leadership, not less. Let’s see how they would like a naval blockade of their oil. Do something. Anything! I’m not talking about getting a U.N. resolution. Is there anyone out there that still believes the U.N. can be effective? Anyone?
