FOXNews.com – U.S. & World News – Afghan Lawmakers Demand Convert Be Kept in Country
Afghanistan is forbidding Abdul Rahman, a convert from Islam to Christianity, to leave the country even though Italy has offered asylum. Rahman was recently released from prison, which would have certainly resulted in a death sentence, due to intense international pressure from far more civilized nations. Afhgani President Hamid Kharzai, who was educated in the United States, should be doing more to bring his people out of the dark ages.
Some 500 Muslim leaders, students and others gathered Wednesday in a mosque in southern Qalat town and criticized the government for releasing Rahman, said Abdulrahman Jan, the top cleric in Zabul province.He said the government should either force Rahman to convert back to Islam or kill him.
“This is a terrible thing and a major shame for Afghanistan,” he said.
Converting from Islam to Christianity is a major shame and people should be killed for it? Can you imagine if we started killing people for converting to Islam? They would be outraged. I am so disillusioned about supporting this government. These people are far more backward than I had imagined. I had hoped it was only due to the repressive Taliban regime but it is a mindset that is apparently ingrained in just about everybody there. It could take decades for world pressure to bring about social change there and nobody in Afghanistan or other Muslim countries seem interested.
It’s “Death to the Infidels” apparently. And that is why the war on terror is so important. And that’s why we shouldn’t tie our hands playing diplomatic patty-cake with these savages. It’s turning more into us against them every day. That’s the true shame.
