ABC News: Did Russian Ambassador Give Saddam the U.S. War Plan?
ABC has been reporting on documents uncovered and recently translated from Saddam’s Iraq. If you can get past the unnecessary, biased editorials, the articles are interesting. The latest one shows how Russia actively gave Saddam critical information regarding the US war plans. The article shows that the Russian ambassador who provided the information was also implicated in the Oil-for-Food scandal. Other articles show how Saddam corrupted French politicians as well.
Russia has a very short memory. Opposing the US is not in their interest. They seem to be as deluded as France about their place in the world order. It destroyed their economy and the Soviet Union. If they want to re-ignite the Cold War, bring it on. Ronald Reagan showed us how to deal with them. Escalate an arms race until their economy is destroyed again. Thinking they are a quasi-ally is dangerous and foolish. The days of Gorbachev and Yeltsin are long gone.
