Israel will have to act on Iran if UN can’t
I would expect nothing less of Israel. They might be the only country in the world who can actually get it done. Israel certainly is not overly concerned with what the rest of the world thinks about them. I wish the US was more concerned about our own safety than international opinion polls. The UN has shown time and time again that they do not have the intestinal fortitude to stand up to any two bit dictators.
Despite Iran having enough nuclear material to make a bomb and despite threatening to destroy Israel and inflicting “harm and pain” on the US, the world still prefers to “wait and see”.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov suggested Wednesday that Moscow would not support sanctions and he ruled out military action.
“I don’t think sanctions as a means to solve a crisis have ever achieved a goal in the recent history,” Lavrov said after meeting Secretary-General Kofi Annan at the United Nations.
He added that Russia was “convinced that there is no military solution to this crisis”
What in the world does that mean???? Sanctions don’t work, there is no military solution, so what are we supposed to do? Ask nicely?? Russia is just ridiculous. I’m not sure what happened to Glastnost with Gorbachev and Yeltsin but President Putin is trying to revive the Cold War and act as a “counter-weight” a la France. Being contrarian just for contrarian sake. Russia sure chooses shady friends for a country that wants to be accepted as an equal among western nations.
