Worst President in modern history seeks relevancy

Thanks to Noble for sharing his outrage by pointing out this story to me on Drudge.

Before we get started it should be pointed out that on 2/1/2006, Jimmy Carter voiced his support for the terrorist group Hamas, which vows to wipe Israel off the map, by stating, “Give Hamas a chance“. Perhaps ex-President Carter also feels that Iran is just misunderstood and probably didn’t mean to kidnap those hostages under his watch. They probably just want nuclear technology for peaceful means as well. I’m sure he can’t remember that Iran has plenty of oil or where his car keys are. That being said…

Today at the Coretta Scott King funeral, former President Jimmy Carter and Rev. Joseph Lowery, co-founder of Southern Christian Leadership Conference, showed a complete lack of dignity by choosing to exploit their eulogical speaking positions to disparage President Bush in order to further the political agenda of the left. They pandered to the mostly liberal, black audience to provoke applause intended to embarrass President Bush in a highly visible setting.

Jimmy Carter who is one of the worst Presidents in history had created a positive legacy for himself as an effective ex-President with his involvement in Habitat for Humanity, electoral fraud monitoring, and other peaceful and humanitarian missions.

Just recently Carter has decided to break the unwritten rule of former Presidents not criticizing sitting Presidents. Apparently he is trying to establish some relevancy before he dies. Sadly he still does not realize that his political philosophies are seriously flawed and have failed miserably. He is making a fool of himself. Every time he speaks, I hear him channeling Ted Kennedy with a little bit of the paranoia of Harry Belafonte. It is sad to seem him tarnish what remaining legacy he has left with the inane rantings of a elderly madman.

As he talked about the Kings, he said: “It was difficult for them then personally with the civil liberties of both husband and wife violated as they became the target of secret government wiretaps.”

What???? I didn’t know the Kings’ were talking to Al Qaeda members overseas back then! They must have been since that’s what the NSA’s wiretapping encompasses. Obviously this was an attempt to tie the NSA wiretapping program to the civil injustices of the past. Lest we forget it was JFK and Robert Kennedy that authorized the wiretaps against the Kings. I do agree that the Kings’ civil rights were violated beyond belief, but to make a moral equivalence between their situation and what the US is doing to Al Qaeda is quite irresponsible. Next thing you know, they’ll be saying George W. Bush personally ordered the wiretaps on the Kings’ himself.

Thinking back to the Ronald Reagan funeral, I do not remember any cheap shots or gloating by conservatives. Coretta Scott King deserved a solemn event that was dedicated solely to reflect upon her life and accomplishments.

Are there no depths that liberals will not lower themselves to? At the Sen. Paul Wellstone funeral, conservatives were excluded from the proceedings and were openly mocked during the eulogies. There were even accusations that conservatives had murdered him by tampering with his plane. This is not an endearing quality and liberals always appear spiteful, hateful, and self-serving.

As always, conservatives should continue to take the high road and let the liberals continue to shoot themselves in the foot.
