Opposing foreign port ownership is not Islamophobia

Michelle Malkin is reporting that the UAE has agreed to delay the purchase of the ports from Britain.

I just heard on Fox News this morning that China controls some of our West Coast ports. The argument should not be whether an Arab country controls access to a vital part of our security, it should be whether ANY foreign country should have this responsibility. I don’t care if Dubai Ports World has the best of intentions. I’m sure there are plenty of Al Qaeda operatives that will attempt to exploit this relationship even if the Dubai management is not aware of it. It only takes one infiltrator to conspire against us and cause unimaginable destruction. I do not fear all muslims, and I do not fear Dubai Ports World specifically, but I do not want any part of our national security interests to be beholden to ANY another country, including Great Britain. I’m sure they would understand that times have changed and so must we. So stop with the race baiting and the name calling and protect our interests.

I also understand that the US should have good relations with Arab nations which will also serve our national interests in the long run. Let’s find another avenue to partner with them that does not cause any risk to our citizens. I’m pretty sure a congressional hearing won’t make me feel warm and fuzzy about this situation.

I find it very curious that there are no American companies interested in managing our port operations. Are all these foreign companies just making bad investments or is having an American foothold worth more than the profits themsleves?
