This clinches it. BUSH HAS TO BLOCK THE UAE PORT OPERATIONS SALE!!! I have no idea why Bush thought this was a good idea, but when Jimmy Carter agrees with you, it is time to re-think your position.
Remember:
- Carter had the worst foreign policy record since the isolationism of WWII.
- Carter sold the Panama Canal.
- Overthrew the Shah of Iran.
- One of the hostage takers in Iran is a madman and now the President of Iran
- Boycotted the Olympics because the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan which turns out to be not so nice a place.
Michael Chertoff of Homeland security says the sale has been reviewed and “safeguards” are in place. Forgive me if I’m not comforted. I was actually impressed and disappointed at the same time with how the Democrats jumped on the issue first. Now the Republicans are coming on board apparently a little gun shy to second-guess the President. But really this can’t happen. Just like China cannot purchase one of our oil companies. This is going to be a political nightmare for the Republicans in the next election. Come on Mr. Rove. Come to your senses.
